The pandemic has led to a fundamental shift in the way employers view the health care of their employees. Social isolation, child and elder care and worries about loved ones getting sick increased the focus on the relationship between mental health and a person’s wellbeing.
At the same time, the health crisis put a spotlight on inequities in the social determinants of health. For employees to be able to thrive in society and in the workplace, it became clear they must have access to nutritious foods, quality health care, transportation, education and accessible housing.
