Sertoma Centre breaks ground on apartments to house people with disabilities in Orland Park, IL

  • Date: 10/29/2020

A new development in Orland Park could be called home sweet home by as many as 19 people with disabilities by this time next year. The facility, along with another supportive housing development Sertoma Centre opened in 2016 in Homewood, will allow adults with disabilities to live independently while receiving support. Van den Brink said no Sertoma staff is on site 24/7, but will regularly visit. Residents receive support for socializing, counseling, job training and placement, and help with grocery shopping and bill management, officials said. The Orland Park location on Union Avenue is ideal because it offers easy access to stores, a pharmacy, restaurants, parks, recreation facilities, public transportation and a library, they said.
