The Charles George VA Medical Center on Monday began offering a new service for area veterans -- inter-facility and post-hospitalization transportation.
The VA's Veteran Medical Transport will be able to take veterans who need specialized care to hospitals or facilities that will be able to meet their specific medical needs.
The VMT is not intended as an emergency response vehicle, but it will be staffed and operated by highly-trained, credentialed paramedics and EMTs, who can give basic and advanced life support when needed.
