Innovations in Mobility: Bike Programs Run By Transit Agencies

December 3, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 3:45 pm UTC-5

Thursday, December 3, 3:00 – 3:45 pm ET

In September, Austin’s Capital Mero Transportation Authority (Capital Metro) began co-managing the local bikeshare system, rebranding it “MetroBike.” Capital Metro plans to integrate MetroBike with existing transit service, providing first mile-last mile connectivity and simplified ticketing for those wishing to combine bike share and transit in their journey. MetroBike’s fleet includes a growing number of e-bikes, which have been extremely popular.

Capital Metro is one of a few transit agencies in the United States that manages bikeshare systems, along with Kansas City’s KCATA, Los Angeles’ LA Metro, Las Vegas’ RTC, and Dayton’s GDRTA. The interview will explore ways transit agencies might consider incorporating bikeshare into their portfolio of services.
