Vermont spends more on its transportation programs than any other rural state in the country, according to a recent state report.…
In its on-going effort to increase transportation opportunities for area seniors, the Chelsea Senior Center (CSC) is excited to introduce the “Ann Van”. The van supports its ROAM program and joins the WAVE’s ROAM bus in providing transportation options for area seniors.
ROAM (Rural Older Adults in Motion) was launched in 2018 by the Chelsea Senior Center to address transportation challenges in rural communities. The Center partners with WAVE to fund the operation of the ROAM bus. Transportation requests from area seniors will continue to be fulfilled using the ROAM bus. The new CSC van will be used to fulfill transportation needs outside of the WAVE’s regular schedule and to meet the changing needs of the Center and its members.
ROAM is made possible through the Vital Seniors Initiative and funded by the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation and the Glacier Hills Legacy Fund.
