TRB Webinar: Public Transit as a Climate Solution

The Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) will conduct a free webinar from 1:00 -2:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, July 21, 2021, that features research findings about public transportation’s impact on greenhouse gas emissions.

Drawing on the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP)’s TCRP Report 226: An Update on Public Transportation’s Impacts on Greenhouse Gas Emissions, the webinar will cover how the transit industry can contribute to fighting climate change. Speakers will also provide tools transit agencies can use to plan low-carbon transportation solutions.

Speakers will cover:

  • National sustainability benefits of public transportation: Jen McGraw, Center for Neighborhood Technology
  • Benefits to transit agencies of addressing sustainability: Amy Pettine, Nelson/Nygaard
  • Transit agency perspective on implementing sustainable solutions: Angie Gompert, Vineyard Transit Authority
  • Question and answer session: Moderated by Jen McGraw, Center for Neighborhood Technology

FTA sponsors TCRP to develop and apply innovative solutions to help meet the demands placed on the nation’s public transit systems.
