Free medical transportation offerings expanded for Charlevoix County seniors

"A long-unmet transportation need in Charlevoix County is now being addressed.

On Monday, the Charlevoix County Commission on Aging along with Charlevoix County Transit began offering free transportation for out-of-county medical needs to those age 60 and older.

Amy Wieland, executive director of the Charlevoix County Commission on Aging, said both she and Jill Drury, Charlevoix County Transit director, believe strongly in the service and see a priority in it.

“It’s definitely an unmet need in our community and that’s what the commission tries to do, meet the needs of our aging community and answer the question of what can we do to help,” Wieland said."
