New ride will help veterans get to and from medical appointments

  • Date: 01/20/2024

Military veterans have a new ride to get them to and from medical appointments.

A seven-passenger Ford Explorer was delivered to the Canandaigua VA Medical Center Tuesday. It came after Johnson-Costello American Legion Post 355 in Penn Yan raised more than $21,000, and that amount was matched by the non-profit group Disabled American Veterans.

The vehicle will provide free transportation for ambulatory veterans for their VA appointments, with a focus on Yates County veterans.
