  • Date: 03/18/2024

The Standing Rock Nation received funding for an intertribal electric vehicle charging network.

The first EV charging station is at Sitting Bull College as part of a $12.5 million electric vehicle infrastructure plan.

A Department of Energy grant, in collaboration with the Native Sun Community Power Development and the American Lung Association, received funding for the EV infrastructure.

The money was used to get five Ford F-150 Lightnings and a Ford E-Transit passenger van on the road.

It will also be used to build up charger infrastructure in towns like McLaughlin.

These vehicles were awarded to the SAGE Development Authority, Sitting Bull College, Standing Rock Public Transit and some tribal casinos for transportation.
