Traffic incidents on highways present serious risks to those involved, as well as to the first responders on scene. According to the Federal Highway Administration, for each minute that the incident continues to be a hazard, the likelihood of a secondary crash increases by 2.8%.
The Bay Area Incident Management Task Force (IMTF) (link is external, opens in a new window)is focused on the safe, quick clearance of incidents. The IMTF works to reduce fatal and serious injuries, as well as traffic congestion associated with crashes.
