Solicitation of Interest:
One-Call/One-Click Virtual Training Opportunity
NCMM is seeking to grow the number of communities providing centralized transportation information by providing a remote, free training on developing One- Call/One-Click (OC/OC) systems. To further its goal, NCMM is soliciting interest from state-, tribal-, or regional level organizations to support OC/OC efforts in communities in their states. Eligible organizations include state departments of transportation, tribal nations, or other state- or regional-level organizations that can fund, provide guidance, and otherwise support local communities in setting up OC/OC systems.
Issue: Individuals often encounter barriers when attempting to plan, book, and pay for trips in areas with multiple transportation providers. One-Call/One-Click systems can help address this issue by uniting information in a single location (on the web and/or through call centers) and fostering system-wide integration of the plan, book, and pay process.
This will be a two-part initiative, requiring state/regional/tribal applicants to assist in disseminating information to local communities within their boundaries.
What NCMM will provide
- Three to five virtual training sessions, each one lasting around 1.5 hours and including the following aspects:
- Strategic planning and setting the vision (the “why” and “what” of OC/OC efforts)
- Establishing clear action steps (the “how” of OC/OC efforts)
- Examples of peer projects of interest (applying lessons from other OC/OC efforts)
- Worksheets between sessions to process information
- Group discussions
- A small level of funding for one or more pilot projects, with a preference for this to be a cost-sharing arrangement with a state-level organization.
- Ongoing technical assistance for the communities that take part in the training opportunity
What states/regions/tribes will need to do
- Indicate their level of interest in bringing the training to their state/region/nation.
- Describe the current level of OC/OC development within the state, providing specific examples of communities that help illustrate that development. This will help NCMM understand the current capacity and demonstrated interest within local communities (thus informing part two, below).
- Indicate at what level the state/region/tribal nation would be able to support the development of OC/OC systems in its state (e.g., fund, provide guidance, or otherwise support through policy, pilot project assistance, or other means).
- Have a representative take part in the training activities, so that they can later help coordinate OC/OC activities that may arise from the training.
- Commit to helping to disseminate information on the training within their state/region/tribal nation.
- Indicate their interest in a cost-sharing arrangement with NCMM on supporting one or more pilot projects.
What Local Communities will need to do:
NCMM will solicit interest from and select up to three communities from within each state/region/tribe to take part in the OC/OC training opportunity. They will also be asked to complete an online form (link available soon) indicating their interest, past experience with OC/OC, and their planned development of a OC/OC system.
