Cobb Co., GA to Implement Transit Pilot Program in South Cobb

  • Date: 02/13/2024

In a tune-up for this November’s transit tax referendum, the Cobb Board of Commissioners approved nearly $3.5 million to pilot a more localized, on-demand transit program known as microtransit in south Cobb.

The two-year program is funded mostly by state grants and federal dollars, with the county expected to foot 30% of the bill — just over $1 million.

The pilot “will include a curb-to-curb service within the service area designed to connect to other transit services in Cobb County and the Atlanta region,” according to the item the commission approved Tuesday.

Microtransit is one of the projects included in the list for the proposed 30-year, 1% sales tax to fund public transit improvements in Cobb.
