A lack of reliable transportation recently kept nearly 6% of U.S. adults from medical appointments, work or other activities important to daily living, a new report indicates, with younger people, those in low-income households and many people of color among the groups who most experienced a dearth in access.
The analysis released Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics found 5.3% of men lacked reliable transportation for daily living in the past 12 months in 2022 compared with 6.1% of women. Overall, the data indicates between 13 million and 14 million adults in the U.S. had recently faced the issue in 2022, according to a CDC spokesperson.
