Integration of Transportation Services: The MaaS for Italy Pilot Project in Naples

  • Date: 10/29/2024

Integration of services and a single digital channel for all means of transport. From Naples, the experimentation of the MaaS for Italy project. Moving from home to another city using a single digital channel to book and purchase transport tickets will be possible, in the not too distant future, thanks to MaaS for Italy. Today, for example, to travel from Naples to Rome, it is necessary to use at least three means: subway, train, and taxi, and as many apps to check schedules and purchase tickets or pay with digital systems. Simplifying and managing the complex system of public and private transport (including car and bike sharing) is the goal of MaaS, an acronym for Mobility as a Service, a project to which the PNRR has allocated 40 million euros, plus the 16.9 million allocated by the complementary fund. The Department for Digital Transformation, the implementing body, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport are at work.
