Denver Metro Area Spotlight Project

Denver Metro Area Spotlight Project

The Denver Metro Area project has two owners, the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG)/Denver Area Agency on Aging (AAA) and Via Mobility Services, as well as several project partners. The focus of this project is on coordinating demand-response transportation (DRT) trips among multiple service providers and across multiple DRT software platforms for scheduling and other activities. This led to the creation of the Trip Exchange software during 2016-17 to support a technologically advanced “trip booking” function. The Trip Exchange software works as a hub that facilitates exchanging trips among service providers using different DRT software platforms. After the Trip Exchange is successfully piloted during 2020, DRCOG/Denver AAA will connect their existing services for the “trip information” function (i.e., information and assistance) with a new capability of booking trips for older adults and individuals with disabilities across multiple service providers. This project has benefitted from a Mobility Services for All Americans (MSAA) grant and two Veterans Transportation and Community Living Initiative (VTCLI) grants as well as other funding.
